Research

Dr. Heo has a clinical interest in the diagnosis and treatment of coronary artery disease (CAD). He is an expert in the use of minimally invasive techniques to diagnose and treat CAD. He’s a principal investigator in a research trial to evaluate the use of heart pumps during minimally invasive procedures to unblock clogged coronary arteries. He was also an early adopter of Shockwave Coronary IVL System, a device used to break up hardened calcium deposits in the coronary arteries. This technology uses sonic pressure waves that travel through soft tissue, safely cracking calcium in the diseased artery. This technology represents a major advance in the treatment of CAD. CMC is proud to be one of three sites in the Northeast to introduce this technology.
