Catholic Medical Center (CMC) is pleased to announce The Bridge of Hope—The Pink Ribbon Project in honor of all who have been impacted by breast cancer. CMC celebrates with survivors, supports those currently in treatment and honors those who have lost their lives to breast cancer.

For a $5 suggested donation, CMC will write your message on a pink ribbon window cling and add it to the display on the skybridge. All proceeds will benefit CMC’s Breast Cancer Survivorship Program.

“Breast cancer affects one in eight women, but it is very treatable if caught early. During Breast Cancer Awareness month, we hope this display serves as a reminder to get annual screening mammograms,” said Dr. Jessica Ryan, Medical Director of CMC’s Breast Care Center. “Additionally, we want those affected by breast cancer to know they are not alone. We support you and are here for you.”

Wendy Walthers, an employee of CMC’s Breast Care Center and a breast cancer survivor, and her sister Michelle, dedicated ribbons to their mother who is currently battling breast cancer. “The pink ribbon is a sign of courage and bravery. Having both breast cancer survivors and warriors in our family, we know how important early detection is,” Wendy said.  “It is also important to show support for individuals and families currently in the fight.”

“One of my best friends was diagnosed under the age of 40 a few years ago and has been battling breast cancer since,” stated Lauren Gott, CMC’s Urgent Care Practice Manager. “I was incredibly emotional writing a message on the ribbon for my friend. It serves as a reminder that breast cancer is not just a disease that affects older women, so please get your mammograms!”
