Catholic Medical Center’s (CMC) Associate Chief Nursing Officer Jennifer Torosian, RN, BSN, NEA-BC, is a recipient of New Hampshire Magazine’s 2023 Excellence in Nursing Award. The awards, given in 16 different categories, recognize the unsung heroes of the state’s healthcare community who highlight the important role nursing plays in achieving comprehensive health care. Torosian will receive the award for Senior Nursing Leader at a reception on May 18.
“Jenn is an exemplary nurse leader in every sense of the term,” said CMC Chief Nursing Officer Jennifer Cassin, MS, RN, CNS, CENP, who submitted the nomination. “She has a passion for the art of nursing, deeply cares for patients and staff, and is enthusiastic about developing talent in other nurses. Jenn also champions the nursing profession, and has implemented many strategies at CMC to promote nursing recruitment and recognition.”
Torosian has worked at CMC since 2008, serving in many clinical and management roles. Even though she is a nurse executive, she still puts on scrubs and helps on hospital units, leading by example and giving support to the nursing team.
“Jennifer Torosian is an effective nurse leader who makes the extra effort to create, support, and teach the staff of ‘how to’ best practices,” said Director of Patient Experience Anastasia Luby, who wrote a letter of recommendation in support of the nomination. “Her leadership approach to learning is transformational and sets her apart as an exceptional leader.”
Currently enrolled in the Doctor of Nursing Practice program at Rivier University, Torosian holds a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Western Connecticut State University and a Master of Science in Forensic Nursing from Quinnipiac University. She belongs to several professional nursing organizations and is on the nursing advisory boards of NHTI, Rivier University and chairs the nursing advisory board at Manchester Community College.
“All of the nurses on this year’s ‘Excellence in Nursing’ list are talented and inspirational. I am both flattered and humbled to be recognized by my peers with this award,” said Torosian. “I love nursing and I want to share that passion with others, especially if it helps encourage young people to enter the nursing field.”
