Surgical ServicesHighest Standards of Surgical Care
If you require surgery, our highly skilled surgical staff will create a safe, comfortable and empathetic atmosphere for you, while delivering comprehensive, top-quality care. Throughout your surgical experience at Catholic Medical Center, they act as patient advocates to meet your individual psychosocial, physical and cultural needs.
CMC’s board-certified surgeons and anesthesiologists have extensive experience in caring for some of the most critically ill patients in the region. More than 180 local surgeons have privileges at CMC. Our surgeons are highly trained and have expertise that mirrors that of surgeons at much larger metropolitan hospitals. As a patient, you have access to this level of skill close to home.
The Surgery Department at CMC includes 10 state-of-the-art surgical suites: eight for general surgery and two for cardiac surgery. The addition of a hybrid operating room in 2012 combines the traditional operating room with the best imaging and cardiac catheterization equipment. The inclusion of multiple technologies in the same operating room fosters innovative surgical approaches that can improve patient outcomes. Minimally Invasive Surgical Techniques
Most procedures are performed through minimally invasive techniques when this is most appropriate for the patient. Catholic Medical Center was one of the first hospitals in the country to utilize minimally invasive robot-assisted surgery techniques
using theda Vinci® Intuitive Surgical Robotics System and now has two of these robots. CMC surgeons have performed more than 2,000 robot-assisted surgical procedures. Minimally invasive spine surgery is performed laparoscopically using the O-arm® Surgical Imaging System for exacting navigation. CMC is the only medical center in New Hampshire with the O-arm system.
Endovascular procedures using lasers and balloon technology are used to treat vessels and restore arterial blood flow to arteries, giving patients another option in minimally invasive procedures. Gastric bypass and adjustable band surgeries for weight loss treatment are also performed laparoscopically with minimally invasive techniques. Wide Range of Surgical Procedures

Typical outpatient surgery procedures include urology, ear, nose, throat, gynecology, cosmetic, vascular, dental, orthopedic/podiatry and general surgery. Designed to Meet Patient and Family Needs
CMC’s surgical suites are in close proximity to the Emergency Department, Intensive Care Unit and heliport for emergent situations. If you are having surgery, you are escorted to a pre-operative ambulatory area and your family may join you here prior to surgery. Recovery from surgery takes place in a post-operative care area.
A family waiting room has a quiet area and another area with a television, both with wireless Internet service. A private consultation room allows physicians to talk to families privately following surgery.
At Catholic Medical Center, we are dedicated to delivering the highest standards of care to meet all your surgical needs. For more information on surgical services at CMC, call (603) 626-2626.
