Visitor Guidelines & Restrictions
We recognize that visitors, family and friends, play a significant role in our patient’s recovery process; however, for the health and safety of our patients, visitors and staff from the spread of and potential exposure to COVID-19, we have implemented the folllowing guidelines.
mask policy & Entrance
- Per CDC guidelines, we are currently requiring all visitors and patients, over the age of two, entering any of our healthcare facilities to wear a mask at all times.
- We will be testing all patients on admission.
- Cloth masks are not permitted at any CMC facility. For comfort a procedure mask may be worn over or under a cloth mask. KN95 or N95 masks are also permitted.
Please do not enter if you've recently experienced:

- Fever
- New onset:
- cough
- shortness of breath or respiratory issues
- body aches
- loss of taste or smell
VISITATION
Non-COVID inpatients, including those in the ICU:
- CMC permits visitation 24-hours a day but reserves the right to restrict visitation if necessary to maintain a safe and healing environment.
- Visitors under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
COVID-19 Patients:
- Two visitors are allowed for a two hour visit per day. The same two visitors must be designated while the patient is on COVID-19 precautions. Visits must be scheduled through nursing and all visitors must wear proper personal protective equipment.
- Virtual visits are also offered and scheduled with nursing team.
Visitation of an End-of-Life COVID-19 patient:
- An end-of-life COVID-19 patient may have up to five immediate family members visit at one time. Once the visitors leave the room, they will not be allowed back into the room, except for two designated immediate family members.
- For ongoing comfort measure support, two family members may remain for an unlimited amount of time (for example, a patient's wife and one child may remain for an unlimited amount of time).
End-of-Life and Comfort Measures Order (CMO) non-COVID patients:
Inpatients receiving end-of-life care include those who are on comfort measures only or those who are at risk of imminent death. The guidelines are only applicable to patients in a single patient room.
- A patient may have up to five immediate family members visit at one time. Once the visitors leave the room, they will not be allowed back into the room, except for two designated immediate family members
- For ongoing comfort measure support, two family members may remain for an unlimited amount of time (for example, a patient's wife and one child may remain for an unlimited amount of time).
Emergency Department:
- Two visitors are allowed to accompany a patient in the waiting room and in the Emergency Department after being screened. Challenging social visitor situations can be reviewed at the direction of the director/supervisor in charge after being screened.
- Visitors must fill out a visitor information slip.
- If treatment areas are at capacity, visitors may be asked to wait in their vehicles until visitation time permits.
Urgent Care:
- Two people may accompany the patient to their appointment.
- A patient, who is unable to obtain childcare, may bring a child to an appointment.
- Staff may restrict companions based on space concerns. If you have any questions please contact the Urgent Care staff to discuss.
Primary Care:
- Two people may accompany the patient to their appointment.
- A patient, who is unable to obtain childcare, may bring a child to an appointment.
- Staff may restrict companions based on space concerns. If you have any questions please contact the primary care practice to discuss.
Mom’s Place & Special Care Nursery:
Outpatient Procedural Areas/Outpatient Practices/Diagnostic Imaging (Cath Lab, Radiology, EP, etc.)
- Each patient may bring two companions with them for an outpatient visit or procedure.
- A patient, who is unable to obtain childcare, may bring a child to an appointment.
- Department staff may restrict companions based on space concerns. If you have any questions the department to discuss.
People with disabilities
- Are covered under the ADA or Section 504 have the right to bring a support person with them to the hospital or practice per the Office for Civil Rights of the US Department of Health & Human Services.
Surgical and Procedural Patients
- Two people may accompany the patient on the day of the surgery.
- Patients arriving through the ED prior to 5:30 AM for scheduled surgery will go directly to the Lobby on level A.
Offsite locations (
not including Urgent Care—see above)
- Two people may accompany the patient to their appointment.
- A patient, who is unable to obtain childcare, may bring a child to an appointment.
- Staff at offsite locations may restrict companions based on space concerns. If you have any questions the department to discuss.
