ChargeMaster

Effective January 1, 2019, federal regulations require all hospitals to post their chargemaster on their website. Please use the following links for a machine-readable copy (Excel download).
A chargemaster is a comprehensive list of standard charges for each inpatient and outpatient service or item provided by Catholic Medical Center and its physician practices. It also includes a list of the average charges for pharmaceuticals, which fluctuate frequently based on current manufacturer costs and availability. Catholic Medical Center will post an updated chargemaster on an annual basis.

The charges listed on the chargemaster do not necessarily reflect the price a patient will ultimately pay for services. The difference is due to a number of factors including service details, insurance coverage, billing adjustments, and other considerations. The chargemaster, therefore, may not be a helpful tool to estimate a patient’s out of pocket responsibility or to compare hospital costs.

Catholic Medical Center encourages patients to contact our patient financial services staff at 603.665.4959 for information about the cost of their specific care.

DIAGNOSIS-RELATED GROUP (DRG) CHARGES

Effective January 1, 2019, federal regulations also require all hospitals to make available their standard charges for DRGs.  Please use the following link for a machine-readable copy (Excel download):   DRGs are a patient classification system that Catholic Medical Center is required to use pursuant to which each inpatient case is categorized into a different group, called a DRG. DRGs are how Medicare and many other insurance companies determine how much to pay for a patient’s hospital stay, by assigning a patient weight to each DRG based on the average resources used to treatment patients in that DRG.  The comprehensive list of DRGs provided at Catholic Medical Center  is based on FY2016 data from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services’ Input Utilization and Payment Public Use File, which is the most recent available. Catholic Medical Center will post updated DRG charges on an annual basis.

The average charges associated with each DRG do not necessarily reflect the price that a patient will ultimately pay for services that fall under the same DRG.  The difference is due to the fact that every inpatient stay is unique based on individual patient needs, diagnosis, level of care, and other considerations.  The average charges associated with each DRG, therefore, may not be a helpful tool to estimate a patient’s out of pocket responsibility or to compare hospital costs.

Catholic Medical Center encourages patients to contact our patient financial services staff at 603.665.4959 for information about the cost of their specific care.
