About Obesity Treatment Center

Intensive Weight Loss Support
The Obesity Treatment Center at Catholic Medical Center offers a comprehensive program to help individuals in their weight loss journey. The program includes behavioral (including group support), nutritional, and exercise intervention, as well as surgical intervention, if needed.

Individuals who are 100 percent or 80 pounds (women) to 100 pounds (men) over their ideal weight, or have a body mass index (BMI) over 40, are considered morbidly obese. Those with a BMI between 35 and 40 often have significant and life-threatening health problems, including cardiovascular disease, Type 2 diabetes, severe sleep apnea and abnormal lung function, arthritis, lower back pain, chronic joint pain or deterioration, and liver and gallbladder disease. If you are facing these physical issues, now could be a good time to explore your weight loss options at the Obesity Treatment Center.

Individualized Weight Loss Programs
After you undergo a comprehensive physical and psychological evaluation, we design a weight loss program tailored to your individual needs. This may include a recommendation for gastric bypass, sleeve gastrectomy surgery, or adjustable gastric banding. If you are not a candidate for surgery, we can design a weight loss plan specifically for you, which may include the OPTIFAST® Meal Replacement Program.

There are no guarantees that any method, including surgery, will produce and maintain weight loss. Success is possible only with maximum cooperation and commitment to behavioral change and medical follow-up. This cooperation and commitment also must continue for the rest of your life.
