Non-Invasive Cardiology:
Evaluating Your Heart Disease
If you have a history of heart disease, have chest pain with an unknown cause or have valvular heart disease, you may be referred to the New England Heart Institute for an evaluation. Our board-certified non-invasive cardiologists have extensive experience in utilizing the latest technologies to evaluate and diagnose disorders of the heart. This evaluation might include any of the following testing:

  • 3-D electrocardiogram (EKG)
  • 3-D transthoracic electrocardiogram
  • 3-D transesophogeal electrocardiogram
  • Stress testing: exercise, nuclear or stress echocardiography
  • Cardiac CT

The results of your evaluation can determine if you need additional testing, require a procedure or if your condition can be managed with medication. Our state-of-the-art three-dimensional echocardiogram technology provides exceptional detail of your heart, allowing our non-invasive cardiologists to clearly see your heart’s structure and how your heart is working. If you need heart surgery, they also use this imaging technology to work collaboratively with the cardiovascular surgeons in planning the best approach to surgery.

Interventional Cardiology:
Restoring Blood Flow to Your Heart — Quickly
If you are experiencing chest pain or are having a heart attack because of a blocked artery, fast restoration of blood flow to your heart can be key to your survival. Our interventional cardiologists rank in the top 10% in the U.S. in door-to-balloon time*, restoring blood flow to the heart with “balloon” angioplasty within 90 minutes of patients arriving at the hospital.

Interventional cardiology involves using catheter-based techniques for evaluating, diagnosing and effectively treating obstructions or blockages in the blood vessels in the heart, kidneys and peripheral arteries. New England Heart Institute interventional cardiologists use advanced technologies in our catheterization labs to perform the latest revascularization procedures. Our interventional services include:

  • Femoral and radial artery cardiac catheterizations
  • Coronary angioplasty, stenting and artherectomy
  • Percutaneous coronary bypass for treatment of shock and to support high-risk procedures
  • Coronary intravascular ultrasound and flow measurement
  • Peripheral vascular angioplasty and intervention

The addition of a Hybrid Operating Room in 2012 enables our interventional cardiologists to perform a catheter-based intervention in a surgical setting, allowing the cardiac surgeons to assist immediately if heart surgery is needed. The New England Heart Institute ranks in the top 5% in the U.S. for coronary interventional procedures and has been #1 in N.H. for coronary interventional procedures for 5 consecutive years*.
