A heart attack occurs when when blood flow to a part of your heart is blocked for a long enough time that part of the heart muscle is damaged or dies.  The New England Heart Institute of CMC is recognized as one of America's 100 Best Hospitals for Cardiac Care and Coronary Intervention; we have a Five-Star rating for Treatment of Heart Attacks, 100% heart failure compliance from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, and a reputation of being in the nation's top 10% for "door-to-balloon" time to open blocked arteries.  We are Board certified in Advanced Heart Failure and Transplant Cardiology by the American Board of Internal Medicine, and are the first in the state to complete a Mechanical Heart/Left Ventricular Assist Device Implant.
