Cholesterol Management Center

Advanced Treatment of Cholesterol Issues
The Cholesterol Management Center at the New England Heart Institute is the first clinic of its kind in New Hampshire dedicated to helping people of all ages reduce their cholesterol and risk of heart disease. The center is under the direction of Peter Klementowicz, MD, FACC and Jonathan Eddinger, MD, FACC, FASE, who are distinguished to be some of the very few board-certified lipidologist cardiologists in New Hampshire.

We treat patients with all risk factors for heart disease: diabetes, hypertension, metabolic syndrome, obesity and smoking. In determining your cholesterol levels, we use standard and advanced lipid blood testing. Our expertise includes assessing well-known and emerging risk factors for heart disease.

Individualized Treatment Plans
Your initial visit to the Cholesterol Management Center includes:
  • a complete medical history
  • a physical exam
  • a complete cholesterol profile
  • an exercise assessment
  • a dietary evaluation

In some cases, additional blood levels will be measured and evaluated. These additional laboratory studies allow the Cholesterol Management Center team to more precisely determine your overall cardiac risk status.

An individualized diet, exercise and lifestyle plan may be sufficient to normalize your cholesterol levels. Weight loss is encouraged when indicated. Exercise is key to weight loss and can benefit your cholesterol levels. Medications may be needed to normalize your cholesterol values. We tailor pharmaceutical treatment to your individual needs, tolerances, and cholesterol goals.

Ongoing Cholesterol Management
During your follow up visits, we update your medical history and perform a brief physical. Lab work is done on site and immediate results are available. The Cholesterol Management Center team will discuss your new lipid profile, other lab work needed and recommend that you continue with the original treatment plan or begin an updated treatment plan. You also will have a follow-up discussion with the dietitian and a review of your exercise program.
