Sports Cardiology

Specialized Care

The Sports Cardiology program at CMC’s New England Heart & Vascular Institute offers comprehensive cardiovascular care and evaluation services for both recreational exercisers as well as more advanced athletes.

Diagnosis & Treatment

Our Treatment Approach

Your care begins with a consultation at CMC’s convenient outpatient practice located at 160 South River Road in Bedford, NH. After careful screening, you’ll be provided further evaluation as indicated including advanced cardiac imaging techniques. These may include echocardiography, cardiac MRI or CT, stress tests or cardiac PET.

Using these results, we will help you develop exercise goals that are both heart safe and that allow you to maximize your athletic performance.

Who Can Benefit from this Program?

The Sports Cardiology program serves a wide variety of active individuals:

  • Who need clearance to continue or start sports participation when there is a question of a cardiovascular condition or when there is a known cardiac history;
  • With symptoms during training including chest pain, palpitations, and/or shortness of breath;
  • Who have noticed an unexplained deterioration in athletic performance;
  • With family histories of cardiovascular disease concerned about starting an exercise program;
  • Interested in comprehensive cardiovascular screening prior to beginning an exercise program;
  • With hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, arrhythmogenic right ventricular cardiomyopathy, coronary abnormalities, inherited arrhythmias or heart valve disease who are interested in starting an exercise program.
