Providing Hope and Healing with Personalized Breast Care at
Catholic Medical Center’s Breast Care Center

“3D mammography has assisted us with a much more detailed
look at a mass that’s suspicious, and has allowed us to target the
abnormality directly for ultrasound and to give good, quality care
while saving the patient cost.”
Elizabeth Angelakis, MD, Chief of Breast Imaging

Support Groups

If you are undergoing treatment for breast cancer, our breast cancer support groups provide comfort, care and camaraderie from other women in treatment, as well as from our breast health specialists.

Digital Screening Mammography
Your digital mammogram, the gold standard for detecting breast cancer, is performed using state-of-the-art digital mammography equipment

One of our female technologists, registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists in both mammography and radiography, will perform your mammogram. Radiologists who are board certified with the American College of Radiology interpret your results. The iCAD, a computer program that aides in the detection of breast abnormalities, also reviews your images.

If you are still having periods, you should have a mammogram 7 to 14 days after you start your period. If your last mammogram was done elsewhere, please make arrangements to have that study sent to us, or bring it with you.

Digital Diagnostic Mammography
A diagnostic mammogram usually involves special pictures of your breasts to examine a lump or something seen on a screening mammogram. The radiologist reviews your study before you leave and provides you with same day results. Breast ultrasound may also be performed with a diagnostic mammogram.

Our mammography services are accredited by the American College of Radiology and certified by the Food and Drug Administration.

Breast Ultrasound & Whole Breast Ultrasound (ABUS)
Performed while you are lying down, a breast ultrasound evaluates lumps and breast lesions. A probe is moved over the area and sound waves help determine if the area is solid or fluid-filled.

Breast MRI
A breast MRI, a supplement to mammography and ultrasound, uses a magnetic field and radio waves to give a 3-D view of your breasts for further evaluation.

Breast Biopsies
If you need a breast biopsy, we perform stereotactic and ultrasound-guided breast biopsies, as well as fine needle and cyst aspirations. Your biopsy is coordinated with your doctor, the radiologist and our breast health specialist to make sure you get the right biopsy for your situation.

Ancillary and Rehabilitation Services
If you require treatment for breast cancer, we work closely with you to determine the best course of treatment. Our care team includes a surgical oncologist, medical oncologist, radiation oncologist and reconstructive surgeon.

Clinical Trials, Research and Quality Studies
Clinical trials help define what is the best modern practice for prevention, early diagnosis and treatment of breast cancer as science offers new potential options. Clinical trials permit current practices to be tested against these new options and this patient participation allows for the evolution of cancer care. Click here for clinical trial resources.

Bone Density or DEXA Scan
A bone density test is a painless procedure to evaluate your bone mineral density to determine if you have osteoporosis. A DEXA scan is the gold standard to assess bone density.

Oncology Exercise Program
If you are undergoing breast cancer treatment, participating in our Oncology Exercise Program can help you feel better and stronger.

Free Cancer Screenings
The Let No Woman Be Overlooked Breast and Cervical Cancer Program offers free screenings throughout New Hampshire to women who meet certain requirements. Learn more about free breast and cervical cancer screenings offered through CMC’s Community Health Services.
