You Can Make A Difference
Volunteers are an important part of Catholic Medical Center and they add a valued dimension to patient care. CMC currently has over 400 caring, dedicated individuals volunteering with us to help improve the quality of healthcare in our community, and we’re very grateful for everything they do!
There is no single portrait of a healthcare volunteer. Our volunteers are men and women of all ages and backgrounds. Some are students or people seeking career and/or life changes, others are homemakers, retirees, former patients, family & friends of staff and patients, as well as working professionals, holding full and part time jobs. Chances are we have just the right assignment for you, whether you have a lot of time to share, or just a little.
We recognize that the achievement of our goals can be best accomplished with the active participation of citizens of our community. Therefore, Catholic Medical Center accepts and encourages the involvement of volunteers and we have volunteer opportunities available within a variety of departments, programs, and activities throughout the organization.Volunteer Program Mission
“The spirit and tradition of volunteering are those of giving of yourself to help others. Our volunteers are individuals committed to those traditions and who demonstrate that commitment through participation in the provision of health care in our community. Our volunteer resources reflect the highest standards of quality and excellence and continually respond to meet the needs of the community. Volunteers contribute with pride to the success of the organization by making a difference in the lives of those we help each day. We respect diversity and strive to foster an environment that nurtures creativity and innovation. We value the talents, skills and potential each volunteer brings and we believe in taking an active role in promoting a healthier community through volunteerism.”Volunteer Resources Department
The function of the Volunteer Resources Department is to provide a central coordinating point for effective volunteer management. Because Catholic Medical Center respects and values all its team members, including its volunteers, the Volunteer Resources Department carefully screens prospective volunteers. Since not every volunteer assignment is right for every individual, we meet with each candidate to discuss their interests, qualifications, skills, and availability to ensure that the selected volunteer assignment meets both the needs of the volunteer and the hospital. Our goal is for individuals to enjoy their volunteer service and to have a sense of satisfaction and fulfillment in knowing that what they’re doing is important and is making a difference. Staff members throughout the hospital also participate in this process by helping us to create meaningful and productive roles in which volunteers might serve. The Volunteer Resources Department is also responsible for ensuring volunteer compliance with legal, safety, infection control, and Joint Commission requirements. All volunteers must be accepted and enrolled by the Volunteer Resources Department prior to the performance of any volunteer duties.
