Catholic Medical Center (CMC) is announcing it has entered into an Asset Purchase Agreement with a subsidiary of HCA Healthcare, and the appropriate documents have been filed with the NH Attorney General’s Office to begin the regulatory review process. This transaction would enable CMC to continue delivering the highest quality, most advanced Catholic healthcare to the Manchester community while ensuring its mission of health, healing and hope flourishes for decades to come.
Since the signing of the Letter of Intent last fall, leadership teams from CMC and HCA Healthcare, in partnership with the Diocese of Manchester, have engaged in due diligence to determine if the organizations could come to a final agreement in which CMC would join HCA Healthcare.
“This agreement is the result of months of due diligence, thoughtful negotiations between our organizations and discussion with the local community about how we can best serve them,” said Alex Walker, CMC’s President and CEO. “In addition to embracing our Catholic mission, HCA is committed to healthcare excellence, community service and investing in our people and facilities. With three hospitals and four decades of providing healthcare services to the state, we are confident HCA will continue CMC’s mission of offering health, healing and hope to the Manchester community for decades to come.”
During this transition, CMC maintains its commitment to delivering excellent patient care as it has for the past 50 years. As the regulatory process proceeds over the coming months, HCA Healthcare will work with CMC leaders to discuss and finalize its plan to integrate CMC into HCA Healthcare upon a successful closing. Throughout the regulatory review phase and integration planning process, CMC will continue its normal operations.
Statement from the Most Reverend Peter A. Libasci, D.D., Bishop of Manchester
“This is an important moment in the history of Catholic Medical Center’s continued commitment to its ministry and delivery of the highest quality medical attention and authentically Catholic healthcare. This professional and faithful service to the Greater Manchester area and beyond is easily recognizable in the midst of its local community as seen on the heights of Manchester’s West Side. For this reason, CMC enjoys the same oversight of its Catholic identity and fidelity to its mission by the Bishop of Manchester as was had by its earliest 'father, friend, companion and guardian,' Monsignor Pierre Hevey (may his memory be eternal). The continued witness of Catholic Medical Center is in the process of being furthered to enrich the delivery of healthcare within a framework of Catholic beliefs, ethics and morals."
