Only NH hospital on the list

For the fourth consecutive year, Catholic Medical Center’s (CMC) New England Heart & Vascular Institute (NEHVI) has been named to Becker’s Hospital Review’s 100 Hospitals with Great Heart Programs. CMC is the only hospital in New Hampshire on the list, joining the ranks of many distinguished Boston-based teaching hospitals.

To compile the annual list, Becker’s examines several rankings and awards agencies and, according to the publication, identifies “national leaders in cardiovascular healthcare. Many institutions pioneered groundbreaking procedures and remain on the forefront of heart care today.”

NEHVI Executive Medical Director Louis Fink, MD, says “we pride ourselves on being high technology and high touch, bringing many leading-edge technologies to the patients of New Hampshire with a sense of compassion and connectedness that makes CMC stand out.”

“We are always looking for new ways to pioneer in cardiovascular health,” says CMC President & CEO Joseph Pepe, MD. “In addition to being the first to offer many life-changing procedures and treatments, our collaborations allow us to truly make a difference in communities across the state."

NEHVI offers cardiovascular and surgical services at hospitals throughout New Hampshire and has a clinical affiliation with Massachusetts General Hospital Corrigan Minehan Heart Center, also on the Becker’s list, for heart transplant and advanced cardiac procedures. In the last year, NEHVI became the first program in the world to enroll patients in Boston Scientific’s ASAP TOO trial to treat non-valvular atrial fibrillation, among the first to begin MANAGE-HF to more closely monitor heart failure patients, and the first in the area to offer the MitraClip® procedure for mitral valve regurgitation.
