2nd Year Dartmouth-Hitchcock OB/GYN residents will provide care on The Mom’s Place and Special Care Nursery
Catholic Medical Center this week welcomed its first residents, medical doctors training to specialize in obstetrics and gynecology. Three 2nd-year Dartmouth-Hitchcock OB/GYN residents will begin caring for CMC patients on The Mom’s Place. This residency program is a first for CMC, building on a successful, long-standing maternal care partnership with Dartmouth-Hitchcock.
“It’s exciting to have these physicians contributing to the high-quality care on The Mom’s Place,” said CMC President & CEO Joseph Pepe, MD. “I have no doubt the families who trust our program will appreciate the level of care and attention they receive from our residents.”
Tara Higgins, MD; Meredith Pavicic, MD; and Zachary Spalding, MD will work under the direction of Elisabeth Erekson, MD, MPH, the Associate Program Director at CMC. Their ten-month rotation at CMC is part of their ongoing graduate medical training as they become Board-certified in the specialty of obstetrics and gynecology.
“The entire team at CMC, from our D-H physicians and midwives to the CMC nurses and staff, has so much to offer these talented residents,” said Dr. Erekson. “Most importantly, I am confident our residents will have positive, meaningful experiences with patients that will leave a lasting impression on their careers and the families we care for.”
In addition to taking part in labor and delivery on The Mom’s Place, the residents will serve as the first-assistants for routine gynecologic surgery and provide consultation for patients with gynecologic problems in the emergency department.
