Becker’s Hospital Review, a leading healthcare publication has honored Catholic Medical Center for leadership and quality care of cardiac patients. CMC President and CEO Joseph Pepe, MD, has been named among the nation’s top “100 Physician Leaders of Hospitals and Health Systems 2015.” CMC has also been recognized as one of the “100 Hospitals with Great Heart Programs” because of its New England Heart & Vascular Institute (NEHVI).
“Our mission is to provide health, healing and hope to our patients and while we don’t do this work for the recognition, it is an honor to be viewed as leaders in our field,” said Joseph Pepe, MD, President & CEO, CMC. “I am incredibly proud of the team at NEHVI for leading the way in exceptional cardiac care. We have the best heart team in the region; they are innovative leaders pioneering new approaches at the same pace as some of the finest academic medical centers in the nation. Our state is fortunate to have this caliber resource in eight different communities where NEHVI has offices.” No other New Hampshire hospitals made the list of leading heart programs.
Dr. Pepe is one of just three New Hampshire hospital leaders in the annual review. According to the monthly publication, the list features hospital and health system presidents and CEOs who also hold medical degrees. This is the third year in a row Dr. Pepe has been recognized by Becker’s Hospital Review.  Dr. Pepe spent years treating patients at CMC and is a board certified Internist who began his career as a clinician at CMC in 1990. Dr. Pepe is president and chief executive officer of CMC Healthcare System, which includes Catholic Medical Center, a 330-bed acute care hospital, the New England Heart and Vascular Institute, several subsidiaries including physician practices, an urgent care center, breast care center and ambulatory surgery/imaging center partnership.
“Any individual recognition is really a reflection of the body of work done by all of the staff, nurses, physicians and administrators here at CMC,” said Dr. Pepe. “We work hard to provide access to high quality care, and we hope to continue serving New Hampshire well into the future.”
