To be eligible for an acute rehabilitation admission at the Rehabilitation Medicine Unit at CMC, you must require 3 hours per day of intensive therapies (OT, PT and/or ST) plus 24-hour rehabilitation nursing. The admission process requires a physician referral and an on-site evaluation by our referral specialist. How can my family and friends reach me?

Families are encouraged to become involved in your stay at the RMU, as they will be assisting you at home. Visiting hours are flexible, but during the day you will be busy with your therapies. Please encourage friends to visit after your therapy is completed for the day. What do I bring?
Most patients find that the hospital johnnie is easiest for nighttime but you are welcome to bring your own pajamas/nightgown, slippers and bathrobe. During the day you will be up and dressed. Please bring loose-fitting clothes (sweat pants, shorts, t-shirts) and rubber-soled shoes or sneakers. Please also bring a list of all medications that you take at home. What happens when it’s time to be discharged?
Throughout your stay on the Rehabilitation Medicine Unit, therapists and nurses will be working with you and your family on family teaching. Specific family education sessions and possibly a home evaluation may also be scheduled. Your case manager will work with you and your family to develop a discharge plan and discharge date. Your case manager will help to arrange any services and/or equipment that will be required by you at home. Unless otherwise specified, patients are discharged at 10 a.m. Why choose RMU for your rehabilitation stay?
