Each patient has a core team of specialists dedicated to his or her recovery. 

Zubin Batlivala, MD, Medical Director 
Dr. Batlivala is board certified in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. He completed his internship at Boston Medical Center and residency at New England Medical Center in Boston, MA. In 2004, Dr. Batlivala became the medical director of the Rehabilitation Unit at Catholic Medical Center. Dr. Batlivala is also the medical director for Hillsborough County Nursing Home and works in pain practice and physiatry at the NH NeuroSpine Institute. 

Powen Hsu, MD 
Dr. Hsu is the Section Chief of Adult Medicine at Catholic Medical Center and President of New Era Medicine, PLLC. Dr. Hsu received his medical degree from Tufts University School of Medicine, Boston, MA. He completed his internship in internal medicine at Salem Hospital, MA and his residency in the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at Sinai Hospital/Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, MD. Dr. Hsu has 27 years of medical experience and practices in Preventive Medicine, Undersea and Hyperbaric Medicine and specializes in comprehensive wound care. Dr. Hsu is board certified in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and joined the Rehabilitation Medicine Unit in 1995 as the attending physiatrist.

A physician that specializes in physical medicine and rehabilitation who will help develop and manage the patient’s rehabilitation program and medical needs.

Primary Nurse
A nurse specially trained in rehabilitation who is responsible for the patients nursing care.

Case Manager/Social Worker
Specially trained nurses and social workers who assist patients and their families with financial/insurance issues, community resources and discharge planning as well as providing supportive counseling when needed.

Physical Therapist
Experts specializing in enhancement and restoration of movement and physical function including mobility, stairs and transfers. 

Occupational Therapist
Experts specializing in maximizing functional independence with self-care, including bathing, dressing and homemaking. 

Speech/Language Pathologist
Experts who provide therapeutic intervention for treating cognitive, speech, language and swallowing disorders. 

Registered Dietician/Nutritionist
Expert clinicians in food and nutrition

Certified Diabetes Educators
Registered nurses and registered dieticians specially trained in the field of diabetes education. They are an excellent resource for those diagnosed with pre-diabetes and diabetes as well as those who are looking to reduce their risk factors and make overall health improvements.

Respiratory Therapist
Specialized healthcare professional that provides assistance to patients with breathing or cardiopulmonary diseases, including chronic or acute respiratory illnesses.

Physicians who specialize in the care of hospitalized patients. Most hospitalists are board certified in internal medicine, with a strong emphasis and interest in the care of acutely ill patients.
