A Workplace Health Promotion Program

Did you know that for every 100 employees:
-67 are overweight orobese
- 60 are physically inactive
- 50 have high cholesterol
- 25 are smokers
- 24 have high blood pressure

According to the Center for Disease Control
and Prevention (CDC), approximately 50% of all
American adults have a chronic disease–many
of them preventable, yet most rate their health as
good or very good.

The Bottom Line
While many factors go into creating a successful
company, no company can be competitive
without healthy productive employees.
Employees who take an active approach to
their health can have a positive impact on their
healthcare costs over time.

The cost of unhealthy behaviors is rising and
will continue to rise unless employers and
employees make a commitment to improving
their health and quality of life. It is estimated that
physical inactivity and obesity could cost an
employer as much as 27% of their total health
care claims.

A Winning Solution
Studies show that for every dollar a company
spends on employee health, they receive a return
on investment through:
- Reduced healthcare costs
- Increased productivity
- Decreased absenteeism
- Improved health and morale

You can empower your employees to engage in
healthy lifestyle behaviors resulting in improved
performance and a better bottom line. By
providing onsite workplace health promotion
programs to employees, you will help them
identify personal risks and actively manage their
personal health.

Research has shown that eating a healthy diet,
exercising 30 minutes a day, learning to positively
manage your stress and developing a social
support network, can prevent a premature death
from heart disease, as well as several other
conditions including high blood pressure, high
cholesterol, being overweight, diabetes and
some cancers.
