Essential Vascular Disease Treatment
Vascular disease can affect the arteries and veins throughout your body and can reduce your life expectancy by causing a heart attack, stroke, ruptured blood vessels, blood clots or kidney failure. A multidisciplinary team of highly trained physicians, nurses and vascular technicians at the Vascular Institute at Catholic Medical Center provides state-of-the-art surgical, interventional and diagnostic services to patients with vascular disease.

If left untreated, vascular disease can lead to leg amputation, renal failure, or stroke. People with vascular disease have six times greater risk for experiencing symptoms of heart disease. Therefore, it is important to diagnose vascular conditions early and accurately because they can lead to progressive discomfort, major organ failure, long-term disability and even sudden death.

The vascular disease specialists at the Vascular Institute at Catholic Medical Center are professionals from Cardiothoracic Surgical Associates, the New England Heart Institute, Southern NH Radiology Consultants and The Surgical Care Group, PC. The multidisciplinary team includes:

Interventional radiologists and interventional cardiologists who perform catheter-based procedures to reduce blockages that cause vascular disorders

Vascular surgeons who are specially trained to operate on arteries and veins

		Bariatric Center of Excellence designation for Obesity Treatment Center

		‘Top Performer on Key Quality Measures™’ Recognition from The Joint Commission CMC was recognized for its achievement on the following measure sets: Heart Attack, Heart Failure, Pneumonia, and Surgical Care.

		Catholic Medical Center receives Get With The Guidelines-Stroke Silver Quality Achievement Award. The award recognizes CMC’s commitment and success in implementing a higher standard of stroke care by ensuring that stroke patients receive treatment according to nationally accepted standards and recommendations.

		CMC receives a 3 star rating by the Society of Thoracic Surgeons The Society of Thoracic Surgeons has developed a comprehensive rating system for the quality of cardiac surgery among hospitals across the country. Approximately 12-15% of hospitals received the 3 star rating which denotes the highest category of care. Since January 2010 the cardiac surgery performance of our hospital was found to lie in the highest quality tier, thereby receiving an STS 3 star rating.

		Named to Harvard Pilgrim's 2012 Hospital Honor Roll The Hospital Honor Roll names those hospitals whose performance was among the top 25% of those measured nationally on a set of composite quality metrics. The metrics evaluate clinical process of care, patient experience and patient safety and are based on CMC Hospital Compare and Leapfrog data.
