The Psychiatric Institute – Adult and Geriatric Inpatient Unit
A 19-bed voluntary unit that is designed to offer quality adult and geriatric mental health care in an environment where comprehensive medical care is also available. The approach is based on a “therapeutic community” philosophy, where patients actively engage in treatment under the guidance of a multidisciplinary team.
An individualized treatment plan is developed with each patient and family, which includes evaluation, individual and group therapies, educational discussions and skills-building recreational activities. These therapeutic activities focus on building and strengthening effective tools for daily living and emphasize a rapid return to the community.
