Gastric bypass and the adjustable LAPBAND® System are offered at CMC as surgical options for severe obesity. Both procedures can be done with minimally invasive laparoscopic surgery in which the surgical incisions are very small. The altered stomach can accommodate only small portions, which are quickly satisfying. Additionally, with the gastric bypass procedure, not all of the calories eaten are absorbed.
