The New England Sleep Center treats the following disorders: Sleep Apnea: a potentially life-altering and life-threatening breathing disorder that occurs during sleep. The upper airway repeatedly collapses, causing cessation of breathing or inadequate breathing and sleep fragmentation.
Narcolepsy: chronic sleep disorder characterized by overwhelming daytime drowsiness and sudden attacks of sleep.
Insomnia: the inability to sleep during a period in which sleep should normally occur.
Restless legs syndrome (RLS): a neurological disorder characterized by unpleasant sensations in the legs and an uncontrollable urge to move when at rest in an effort to relieve these feelings. RLS sensations are often described by people as burning, creeping, tugging or like insects crawling inside the legs.
Parasomnias: disorders characterized by undesirable motor, verbal or experiential phenomena occurring in association with sleep, specific stages of sleep or sleep-wake transition phases. They can range from sleepwalking to night terrors.
