Forget what you've heard about giving birth, having a baby at The Mom's Place is different. Our birthing unit in unlike any other! Our rooms are spacious and beautifully decorated, but it's much more than just a pretty place. Our nurses, midwives and doctors are dedicated to making your birth experience the most positive one possible. We truly are a family-centered birthing unit - there are real beds to sleep on, each room has a refrigerator stocked with snacks and a microwave oven for making late-night popcorn. Meals for partners are included and each room has a large whirlpool tub for mom. Our bathrooms even have built-in hairdryers so you don't have to pack one from home! Each room has a CD player and a television with a DVD/VCR so you can watch movies or play one for an older sibling who is visiting.
We have lactation specialists to help new moms with breastfeeding concerns and we stock breast pumps, nursing pillows, nursing bras and baby slings.

Baby Talk
Preparing to Birth (Taught Evenings or Weekends)Getting ready for labor and birth can sometimes be pretty overwhelming. You've heard labor stories, watched birth shows on television, read lots of books – and still you're not sure what to expect. Our Certified Childbirth Educators have years of labor experience to help you get ready for your unique birthing experience. We'll talk, teach and listen in an informal and supportive way, and help expectant mothers and their partners breathe a sigh of relief about their upcoming birth.
You'll learn about labor and birth, comfort strategies, coping techniques, breathing and relaxation and newborn care. A tour of The Mom's Place will inspire you when you see our beautiful birthing unit and meet some of our staff.
Hopes, Fears and Fantasies - A Review ClassThis is a class for expectant mothers and their labor partners who have already experienced birth*. We'll talk about labor – your last one and the one you hope to have this time – review birth, breathing, relaxation, comfort techniques, coping strategies, and ways to avoid repeating unpleasant birth experiences. *If your partner hasn't experienced birth or it's been a long time since your last baby, we recommend that you take the 5-week, Preparing To Birth class.Birth Choices after a CesareanYour last baby was a Cesarean birth and you’re hoping to avoid surgery this time around. We want you to know that you do have choices about birthing options. In this informal and interactive class you'll explore those options with our Certified Childbirth Educators who encourage you to bring questions and concerns for discussion. The Art and Gift of Feeding Your BabyTips, tools and techniques to help you learn about breastfeeding your baby. A Certified Lactation Consultant from The Mom's Place will talk about feeding a newborn, pumping and storing breast milk and ways to help get breastfeeding off to a great start!
Make Room for Baby!A new baby is a joyful event for a family; however older sisters and brothers may often experience a variety of feelings. This fun, one-hour class provides an opportunity for siblings to learn about newborns and their care. We'll visit The Mom's Place, meet some of the staff, and talk about what it might be like when the new baby comes home. Big brothers and sisters will also get a chance to weigh, diaper and swaddle a teddy bear or doll they bring from home.
Birth Made Easier with HypnosisWomen who use hypnosis for labor and birth are not asleep or in a trance, but are, instead, in a deep state of relaxation that allows their labor to be more comfortable and their overall birthing experience to be more peaceful. Our instructors are Certified Childbirth Educators who are also hypnotherapists. They teach deep relaxation techniques that encourage women to use the power of their natural instincts.
Baby TalkFor mom and babies, 0 to 9 months. Share the jobs and challenges of motherhood with other mothers and their babies. We’ll talk about feeding your baby, crying and sleeping, baby massage, playing with your baby, development milestones and parenting concerns.
