Background
The Eye Institute at Catholic Medical Center was the first location in New Hampshire to offer the VISX® Excimer Laser System for laser vision correction surgery. All of our Ophthalmologists are certified to perform laser vision correction. The Eye Institute has ophthalmologists from around the state utilizing the facility to conduct laser vision correction surgery.

The procedures at The Eye Institute correct for nearsightedness, farsightedness and astigmatism, eliminating or reducing the need for corrective lenses. This correction is done using the VISX® Star S4 with Active Trak™ and CustomVue™ Excimer Laser System with Iris Registration, which uses a laser beam of ultraviolet light to reshape the surface, or cornea, of the eye by removing mere microns of tissue. Active Trak is the only system that allows the doctor to track your eye movement in all three dimensions during the treatment, for greater control. Seven variable-sized beams give the doctor greater flexibility and allow for faster, smoother treatment with precise corneal shaping. Unlike other systems, with ActiveTrak, the doctor does not have to dilate your pupils. This means an even quicker recovery time. ActiveTrak is made by VISX, the name that doctors have trusted in over 2 million procedures.

Chances are you know someone who has had laser vision correction. Now there is VISX CustomVue, individualized laser vision correction and it is setting a new standard for laser vision correction. Just like a fingerprint, each person’s vision is 100 percent unique to their eyes. VISX® CustomVue™ can measure and address the unique imperfections of each individual’s vision and provide them with the potential to experience better vision than is possible with glasses or contact lenses.

To further enhance the quality of vision we achieve with VISX® CustomVue™, we now utilize Iris Registration. This adds another level of sophistication to laser vision correction. The VISX Iris Registration System is the only automated technology of its kind able to consistently target a specific area of the eye. During laser vision correction, Iris Registration maintains alignment even when the eye is rotating.

The Eye Institute at Catholic Medical Center accepts self-referrals as well as referrals from ophthalmologists and optometrists.
