Diagnostic Imaging Equipment
- Two multi-slice CT Scanners, a 16-slice and a 64-slice VCT from GE Healthcare. The 64-slice allows for advanced cardiac and vascular imaging. This includes the ability to perform analysis of the coronary arteries in the heat (calcium scanning). The 16-slice CT accommodates bariatric patients with an 80cm gantry opening and a 500 pound weight capacity.
- Four Siemens Health Solutions S2000s, with upgradeable platforms to maintain state-of-the-art technology. These units perform the latest in 3-D and soon, 4-D color, Doppler imaging and elastography.
- Three gamma cameras by Siemens reside in our Nuclear Medicine/Molecular Imaging section. Each unit has attention correction allowing for optimal image enhancement of Cardiac Perfusion Imaging.
- Our MRI scanner is an Achieva Quasar Dual 3.0 Tesla system from Philips Medical Systems, allowing advanced imaging studies including MR angiography, MR venography, cardiac and breast imaging.
- General X-ray consists of a combination of Computed Radiography (CR) by Kodak and Direct Digital Imaging from GE Healthcare. This assures optimal image quality with the shortest imaging times.
- Vascular and interventional radiology equipment from Siemens Health Solutions reside in a suite specially designed for patient comfort and safety. The suite is completely equipped for conversion to an operating room should the patient’s condition immediately require those services.
The department has implemented the Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS) to electronically display and store your digital exam images, eliminating the need for film. PACS allows for the efficient and effective acquisition, viewing and storing of patient images. Your health care provider has immediate access to images from their offices through our secure website. Your provider may also request that your exam be written to a CD that can be viewed on a PC. Digital technology allows for interaction with your images. One can adjust brightness and magnification and view “movie” clips in a way not possible with traditional film. Catholic Medical Center prides itself in being at the leading edge of technology, and diagnostic imaging is an integral part of this service. We are excited about the many extraordinary advances that have been made recently in the field of diagnostic imaging. We are committed to being active participants in this wave of technology. You can be confident that the care you receive at Catholic Medical Center will be among the best imaging services available. We look forward to serving you.
