Employment/Compensation
Catholic Medical Center provides competitive wages and a comprehensive benefits program. The following is a brief outline of benefits available to eligible employees.

Performance Evaluations
Employees will receive a written performance evaluation at three or six months from their date of hire depending upon their position, and annually thereafter. Merit increases are given during annual evaluations only.  Performance evaluations aid the employee in growth and development.

Promotion/Transfer
All qualified employees will be given consideration for open positions within the health care system. Openings are listed on the intranet and in the Human Resource office.

Pay Practices
Employees are paid on a bi-weekly basis. All hourly employees are paid time and a half for time worked over 40 hours in a week. Hourly employees will also be paid for evening, night and weekend shifts.

Flexible Benefits Program
This program includes multiple options for health insurance, dental insurance, life insurance, accidental death and dismemberment insurance, short term disability insurance, long-term disability insurance and health and dependent care reimbursement.  The amount you pay each pay period, if applicable, will be paid with pre-tax dollars before federal, state, and Social Security taxes are withheld. If enrolled, your coverage begins on the first of the month following one month of continuous employment.

Group Dependent Life Insurance
This group coverage is available to you to cover your spouse and/or dependent children. Election is made at the time of enrollment in the flexible benefits program. You pay these premiums with after-tax dollars.

Earned Time
Earned time is a system which combines traditional vacation, holiday, sick and personal days into one account for each employee. You may use earned time to receive pay for absences from work or may cash out certain balances. All regular full-time and part-time employees are eligible to accrue earned time.

Holidays
Nine holidays are observed each year: New Year’s Day, Civil Rights Day, Presidents Day, Good Friday, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving and Christmas (see Earned Time).

Pension Plan
You will become eligible for this retirement program if you are at least age 21 and have completed one year of employment of at least 1,000 hours. Once eligible, you will enter the program on the next following January 1 or July 1. There is no cost to you for benefits earned under this plan. You become “vested” in the retirement benefits you have earned after completing five years of vesting service.

403(b) Tax-Sheltered Annuity Plan
You may enroll in this tax-favored savings program which offers you the advantage of saving money while deferring the payment of federal taxes until you begin receiving benefits. After completing one year of service of at least 1,000 hours, you will begin receiving an employer contribution of $.50 on every dollar of the amount you contribute up to 4% of annual pay. This matching contribution is fully vested immediately.

Tuition Reimbursement
After six months of regular employment status, you are eligible to apply for tuition reimbursement for job-related courses offered by an accredited college or university. Once approved and having received a grade of C or better, you will be reimbursed up to $2,000 to cover tuition, registration fees, and lab fees.

Over-the-Counter Drugs
Employees are entitled to purchase a variety of 10 types of over-the-counter medications at discounted prices through the hospital pharmacy.

Special Time Off
You are eligible for up to three consecutive scheduled days of leave with full pay for death in your immediate family.

If you are asked to serve on a jury, you will be paid the difference between the amount normally paid for your regularly scheduled hours and the pay you actually received from the court.

Employees who serve in the U.S. Armed Forces Reserves will be excused for two weeks of annual training each year, as well as for other mandatory training which may be periodically required. Employees will be paid for up to two weeks per calendar year while attending the training sessions.

Credit Union
You may join Triangle Credit Union and become eligible to apply for checking and savings accounts, vacation and holiday clubs, loans and mortgages.

Direct Deposit
You may sign up immediately for direct deposit and have your net pay electronically transmitted to the bank or other financial institution(s) of your choice.

Auto/Home Insurance
You may participate in the payroll deduction plan to pay for your automobile and/or homeowners insurance. Two companies are available from which to choose.

St. Peter’s Home School
Effective July 1, 2006, the Sisters of Charity of St. Hyacinthe and CMC Healthcare System officially announced the affiliation of St. Peter’s Home School with Catholic Medical Center in accordance with civil and canon law. With the approval of the Bishops of the Diocese of Manchester and the Diocese of St. Hyacinthe as well as the approval of Pope Benedict XVI, these two organizations of similar origins and missions, officially partnered. Notre Dame Hospital, the predecessor of Catholic Medical Center, and St. Peter’s Home School were both founded by the Sisters of Charity of St. Hyacinthe at the invitation of Monsignor Pierre Hevey, Pastor of Ste. Marie Parish.

For many years, Notre Dame Hospital and St. Peter’s Home were organized under one corporation. Founded by Monsignor Pierre Hevey in 1902, St. Peter’s Home School operated as an orphanage until 1950. In 1950, it became a boarding school for nearly 250 area boys and girls. In 1967, St. Peter’s Home School became a daycare facility. Sister Florence Therrien, Director, came to St. Peter’s Home School in 1969. In 1967, St. Peter’s Home School had 5 enrollees. Today, nearly 309 children ages 6 weeks to 6 years attend full time. St. Peter’s Home School has approximately 80 employees, with 60 being teachers or childcare workers.  For more information, click here.
