Cancer Treatment
Services
Norris Cotton
Cancer Center at Catholic Medical Center provides a complete array of
inpatient and outpatient medical oncology services—from onsite clinical laboratory
services, to support services such as dieticians, chaplains, social workers,
and care managers—in one convenient location.
Surgery
and radiation therapy are coordinated with a patient's primary care physician.
At CMC, we have some of the most experienced general, urologic and thoracic
surgeons in the area, highly skilled in providing surgical interventions for
the treatment and care of all types of cancer. Some patients needing surgery or
radiation therapy may be referred to Norris Cotton Cancer Center at
Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, New Hampshire.
CMC
is the first hospital in the region to use the da Vinci® Intuitive Surgical
Robotics System, which has been successfully used to treat prostate and other
urologic cancers. This approach improves surgical outcomes, reduces blood loss,
postoperative pain and improves healing time.
A
full complement of medical oncology and hematology services are available
through CMC’s Murphy Unit, as well as through referrals for outpatient
services, such as radiation therapy. All chemotherapy is delivered onsite and
is prepared in-house by specially trained pharmacists.
Our comfort care team assists patients and family members in achieving
physical, spiritual and psychological comfort. The team assists patients and
family members with hospice care, at the hospital or upon discharge.
